Badminton World Federation (BWF) bakal meninjau ulang kebijakan dan prosedur terkait intervensi darurat oleh dokter turnamen. Namun sebelum itu, mereka menunggu laporan resmi dari Badminton Asia dan Komite Penyelenggara Lokal.
Demikian disampaikan BWF dalam laman resminya yang diunggah pada Selasa (2/7/2024). Induk olahraga badminton dunia itu tak hanya kembali mengungkapkan rasa duka atas meninggalnya pebulutangkis China Zhang Zhi Jie.
BWF juga berencana untuk mengevaluasi kebijakan-kebijakan terkait prosedur medis di lapangan dalam turnamen.
“Kami menggunakan kesempatan ini untuk sekali lagi menyampaikan rasa belasungkawa kami yang terdalam kepada keluarga Zhang Zhi Jie, rekan-rekan setimnya, Asosiasi Bulutangkis China, dan seluruh komunitas bulutangkis China,” tulis BWF.

“Meninggalnya Zhang di Badminton Asia Junior Championships di Yogyakarta, Indonesia, merupakan kejadian yang tragis. Dan kami mengambil semua langkah yang diperlukan untuk meninjau masalah ini secara menyeluruh, dengan berkonsultasi dengan Badminton Asia dan Persatuan Bulutangkis Seluruh Indonesia (PBSI).”
“Meskipun Badminton Asia Junior Championships berada di bawah yurisdiksi Badminton Asia, namun BWF memiliki seperangkat pedoman dan instruksi medis yang tersedia untuk digunakan oleh badan-badan pengatur lainnya (regional atau nasional) yang menyelenggarakan turnamen yang disetujui oleh BWF,” lanjutnya.
